Myanmar's licensed international mobile operator Ooredoo tested 3G
network in major cities in Myanmar in trial operation, according to
Eleven Media Group.
The Qatar-based company is now building mobile towers around the
country and testing 3G in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay.
It has successfully tested its 3G services around MICT Park in Yangon
where it has its IT headquarters.
The service provider now continues building the towers to meet the
deadline to sell mobile SIM cards within six months.
The company won one of two licenses in hotly contested telecom license
auction. Norway-based Telenor won another license.
They are required to sell SIM cards within six or seven months from
being awarded the license.
