Construction of Mandalay Football Stadium, a major SEA Games venue in
the second largest city of Myannmar, is nearing completion.
The works started since January 2011 in Chanmyathazi Township in
Mandalay has been completed by 97 percent.
"We are working with full workforce and machinery day and night to
complete the stadium on schedule," the project manager is quoted as
saying by Myanma Alinn.
"We have designated two training grounds and started implanting there.
The Mandalay international-standard football stadium is being built
over 89.09 acres of land. It is of the same design with the
international-standard stadiums in Nay Pyi Taw," said the source.
The facility can withstand the quake of 8 Richter Scales and has two
parking lots that could hold 104000 vehicles.
Developers are confident that it would be completed ahead of the
coming SEA Games to be hosted for the first time in Myanmar.
Myanmar will host the XXVII SEA Games in three major cities—Yangon,
Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay—and Ngwehsaung Beach.
Most of SEA Games venues in Nay Pyi Taw have been completed.
