NEWLY REGISTERED PRIVATE SCHOOLS GET ONLY TWO-YEAR TERM

The Ministry of Education has set the term of the private schools
allowed to open in Myanmar in 2013-2014 academic year to be two years
on temporary basis, local newspaper Pyi Myanmar reported.



New 94 private schools which have got licenses this academic year are
in trial period and no new private school has got the regular
five-year license, says the ministry.



Education officers in each are would monitor the performance of the
private schools to consider granting the permanent license to them.



"There is a committee overseeing the private schools. The committee
will set curriculum and disciplines and ensure interaction between the
government schools (and private schools)," an acclaimed private
teacher Thein Naing told Pyi Myanmar.



Myanmar has allowed opening of private schools in the previous after
promulgation of the Private School Management Law.



Some private schools in Myanmar teach international curriculum while
many others teach the government curriculum.



There have been 159 private schools registered at the Ministry of
Education since 2012-2013 academic year.
