Akbaruddin's comment was in response to reports that the Myanmar Army crossed into the Indian border and set up camps at Haolenphai in Manipur on August 22. The camp is located at 3 kms from the police station at the border town of
.According to reports, Myanmarese army, last week, had set up a temporary camp at Holenphai village in Manipur.
India has asked Myanmar to set up a Joint Border Working Group (JBWG) to address the issue of demarcation of border between the two countries in the backdrop of attempt by
to construct a defence post near an undemarcated border pillar.Though the proposal to set up JBWG has been there but after the recent incident, India has reiterated the need to set up the group to resolve the issue. "We hope to take it (the proposal) forward (through India's Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhyay)," Akbaruddin added.
As per the understanding, there cannot be any construction within 10 metres from the boundary, they said.
