A friendship trade fair at Kengtung Town Hall on September 22 commemorated the designation of Kengtung in Kengtung District of Eastern Shan State and Chaing Mai of Thailand as sister cities, Myanma Alinn reported.
It was attended by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Htay Aung, Shan State Chief Minister U Sao Aung Myat, State Border Affairs and Security Minister Col Aung Thu, State Road Transport Minister U Naw Kham, State Agriculture Minister U Sai Sa Lu, State Hluttaw representatives, departmental personnel, Governor of Chiang Mai Province Tanin Subhasaen and officials.
The Shan State Chief Minister delivered an address at the ceremony, saying Kengtun District and Chinag Mai Province, could even become sister provinces and the trade fairs would profit the locals and promote friendship.
Governor of Chiang Mai Province Mr Tanin Subhasaen invited to hold a Myanmar trade fair in Chiang Mai, saying the trade fair was sign of friendship.
The Shan State Chief Minister and Governor Mr Tanin Sabhasaen formally opened the trade fair.
Silk wares, handmade and lacquer wares made in Thailand were put on display at the trade fair.
