The Malaysia Under 23 head coach is wary of the threat posed by the same opponents who knocked them out of the AFC Championship qualifier last year
Ahead of their second match of the Merdeka Tournament, the Malaysia Under 23 head coach insisted to the media that revenge will not be on his mind when his charges play against Myanmar on Monday. Last year, the two sides met in the group stage of the AFC Under 22 Championship qualifying, with the on-form Tigers' qualification aspiration halted at the last hurdle by Myanmar.
In a press conference held earlier, Kim Swee explained that he does not believe in revenge, only in learning from such a defeat for better future results.
When asked about Myanmar, he praised the squad, saying that the current squad is even stronger than the one fielded last year, and their 21-year old forward Kyi Lin is a constant threat.
To that effect, he expressed the need for his team to improve their finishing, and for him to rotate his players carefully as there are only two days between the matches.
