UNESCO to inspect 3 ancient Pyu-era cities for world heritage list

UNESCO will make their first visit to Halin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra, the three ancient Myanmar cities proposed to be listed on the world heritage during October, according to Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library.
"Analysts from the United Nations Educations, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will come around October 25 to inspect three ancient Pyu towns. They will ask the questions like how to conserve the towns, how to make management, how to make convenience for overseas and local visitors and are there any handouts about the towns. They will inspect the decoration of the sites, researching and how to excavate in these ancient areas. It is the first time to come," an official from the Ministry of Culture said.
Myanmar start planned Halin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra towns to register in ancient heritage list since 2009 and made a proposal in September, 2012.
"We made everything ready for that. We can tell that a good possibility will come," he said.
The UNESCO will announce the list of world heritage in a conference held in June, 2014.
