Myanmar saw the trade volume of USD 9.9 billion first six months of this fiscal year, nearly 2 billion higher than that for the same period in the previous year, according to Daily Eleven report.
The report cited the official figures of the Ministry of Commerce.
About 20 percent of the trade volume comes from the border trade with China, Thailand, India and Bangladesh.
Myanmar has 15 border trade camps along the border sharing with these countries.
The ministry is taking strict measures against smuggling businesses by mobile teams to widen the margin of the border trade volume.
According to the report, there are smuggling of whisky, beer and liquor which are not allowed to import to the country.
The ministry has targeted this year's trade volume surpassing USD 25 billion.
