British media outlet BBC has been given green light to open its branch in Myanmar by the Ministry of Information, according to a BBC report.
Peter Horocks of BBC Global News announced the plan to start the branch in Myanmar, according to BBC.
The announcement came after the Ministry of Information, the de facto governing body of the entire media business in Myanmar, allowed them to establish the local office.
BBC was one of the most hated media outlets while Myanmar was under the strict dictatorship rule.
The government newspapers under the ministry of authoritarian administration ran slogans which named them "liars".
The ministry is currently in close cooperation with international media outlets which had once hostile relations with.
