The illustrious guest list of the fourth Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad seems to have taken a beating with eminent personalities like women's activist Malala Yousafzai, Nobel laureate and Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and Hollywood actor Daniel Radcliffe pulling out of the event at the last moment. However, they are likely to address the sansad through video-conferencing.
"The unavailability of Aung Sang Suu Kyi and Malala for the event has been confirmed. We are still in talks with Radcliffe," said a MIT official .
The three-day event to be held on MIT campus will begin on Friday.
The conclave is being organised in association with Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Higher and Technical Education, and state Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare and Pune Municipal Corporation. The event is being supported by UNESCO chair for human rights, democracy, peace and tolerance, World Peace Centre, Alandi.
As many as 5,600 students from 450 universities across 22 states have already registered for the event. Around 1,000-1,200 more students are likely to join by Friday.
Around 90,000 students from 200 universities in India will participate in the event through live webcast.
