Hundred of residents in a neighbourhood in Yangon's Thingangyun
Township staged a protest on Sunday afternoon to show their
disapproval for the sale of the neighbourhood's sport ground,
according to Mizzima report.

The ground's ownership has been claimed by Tin Tun Oo with a long-term
lease grant from Yangon City Development Committee.

"Over past three months, they fenced the ground, sunk the well and
supplied the construction materials there," a dweller Tin Tun who
participated in the protest recounted.

He said the protests were staged as the neighbourhood realized that
the public sport ground was seized.

The sport ground has the area of about one acre and it was the only
sport ground left in the neighbourhood.

Protesters said they would fight to get the sport ground back and
restore its original as the football ground of the ward.

"Grabing a sport ground is destroying children's morality. If it
happens, the state leaders are responsible," Zaw Win, a protester,
said.
