The Japanese government pledged USD 22 million for vocational education and HIV prevention activities in rural areas of Myanmar on February 14, according to a Mizzima report.
The aid would be channeled to the needy areas in rural parts of the Southeast Asian country through Japanese Fund Programme.
The Myanmar government and Asia Development Bank signed an agreement on the management of the aid at International Business Centre in Yangon on February 14.
Japan will spend USD 12 million for vocational trainings and USD 10 million for the HIV prevention activities.
ADB Myanmar's chief Putu Kamayanm said the bank would work in cooperation with non-governmental organizations to prevent new infection of HIV.
The vocational education aid would be used in delta areas, central Myanmar and isolated states of the country.
