Myanmar's Nobel laureate democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi said the country itself would strive for prosperity without waiting for savior in talks at Mandalay Irrawaddy Literary Festival, RFA reported.
She called for efforts of each and every citizen to bring prosperity to the pariah state.
The chairperson of the National League for Democracy made the above comment in response to a question by Dame Joan Bakewell, moderator of the session.
The international literary festival, second of its kind in Myanmar organized by Irrawaddy Media Group, was held at Mandalay Hill Resort.
The literary festival formerly planned to be held in a pagoda precinct which is under the management of the Ministry of Culture was postponed due to prompt withdrawal of the permission by the ministry.
The literary festival was boycotted by the poets and writers in Mandalay due to interference of non-literary personnel in the management committee of the festival.
