Myanmar private airline to fly Imphal-Mandalay route

YANGON, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Golden Myanmar, a Myanmar private airline, will launch chartered flight between Imphal of India and Myanmar's Mandalay route starting Friday, tourism sources said Tuesday.

The chartered flight is introduced with the aim of developing tourism service and trade between India's northeast region and Myanmar's northern Mandalay region.

Using ART-72-690 aircraft manufactured by France, the airline will fly the route twice a week, offering 69 seats to passengers.

With regard to the flight, state media quoted India's Manipur state administration as saying that India has relaxed the protected area permit system to two-year validity for Myanmar citizens, adding that visa-on-arrival is being arranged for Myanmar visitors also.

The new flight schedule will contribute towards the ASEAN-India trade service and investment, traders said.

Mandalay International Airport handles flight facilities at the ground station for Bangkok Airline, Indian Airline, Kunming Airline and Silk Airline.

There is a total of 24 international airlines flying Myanmar with seven other airlines operating domestically.
