A prayer and thanksgiving service has been held for the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Candidates of the Garrison 5 education unit in Burma camp, Accra.
A similar event was held for the candidates in various locations across the Municipality.
The service was organized by the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Education Directorate in conjunction with the Armed Forces Education Unit of Burma camp.
The Municipal Education Director, Mrs Evelyn Owusu-Oduro in her remarks said the rationale for the programme was to give spiritual motivation and uplift of the spirit of the children and to grant them Gods' guidance throughout the examination period and to pray for an incident free examinations.
She said it was also to boost their morale to let them know that God was on their side once they had done their part of studying hard all they had been taught over the period.
In his sermon, the Rev Jonathan Betty of the Temple of Glory Ministry, Lashibi who is also the Public Relations Officer of the Municipal Education Directorate told the candidates that their academic success would come to pass if they prepared not only physically but spiritually as well.
He asked them not to lose faith but reposed their trust in God who was ever ready to see them through successfully once they committed their ways unto him in prayers.
He said once they obeyed their parents and authorities in school and at home, God would on his part grant them academic success at every stage of the academic ladder.
Rev Betty advised the pupils to obey the examination rules set before them as part of their side of the bargain for God to reward them with success.
The end of the BECE exams, he said was not the end of the exams adding that no matter how far they advanced in education they were supposed to remember their alma mater.
Additionally as a word of advice he told the pupils to desist from watching the ongoing World Cup in order not to compromise their level of concentration and to avoid restlessness and fatigue during the examinations since some of the matches ran late into the night.
In his closing remarks, the Chief Garrison Education Officer, Lt Colonel J.K Baah Tsiquaye cautioned the pupils to desist from all examination malpractices and played by the rules whilst comporting themselves. He added that they should refrain from all acts of vandalism and rowdyism once they end the exams..
On behalf of the military high command the Directors of Armed Forces Education Unit and la Dade Kotopon education directorate, he wished them a resounding success in the examinations.
