YANGON – Air Mandalay said Tuesday it has ordered six MRJ90 Mitsubishi Regional Jets from Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. with a purchase option for an additional four aircraft.
The purchase agreement was announced at the start of the annual Farnborough International Air Show in Hampshire, Britain, in a statement released by Air Mandalay, a privately owned Myanmar airline.
Deliveries of the MRJ90s, Japan's next-generation regional aircraft, are scheduled to commence in 2018.
Air Mandalay, based in Yangon, is the first Asian airline outside Japan to select the Mitsubishi Regional Jet, the statement said.
Founded in 1994, the airline currently serves 15 domestic destinations.
Apart from the order for Mitsubishi, Air Mandalay also plans to acquire six Embraer Regional Jets from Brazil.
