Manipur government is understood to have received an instruction from the Union ministry of external affairs not to send its ministerial team to inspect the ongoing fencing work at the Manipur sector of the Indo-Myanmar border.
Recently, Ibobi government has decided to send a ministerial to be led by deputy chief minister Gaikhangam to take the firsthand account of the border fencing after allegations of losing land on Manipur side because of the border fencing.
A highly placed official source, said that the written instruction note of the Union ministry of external affairs, was received by the state chief minister.
Chief minister himself had tabled the instruction note during a recent meeting of the Congress legislators, held at his office chamber.
The instruction note, reportedly maintained that it would not be a right step the ministerial team to inspect the border fencing at this juncture, observing that frequent inspection of the disputed border fencing sites would ultimately aggravate the bilateral relation between the two neighbouring countries.
After reading out the content of the note, the chief minister reportedly stated "India wants to keep a cordial relation with Myanmar and the untiring effort of the Indian government to bring about a good relation with Myanmar might be hampered by the present issue of border fencing.
Meanwhile, the government constituted high-powered committee to overlook the ongoing border fencing following allegations of losing a large junk of Manipur land. The committee is expected to submit its report to the government Monday.
