THE second anniversary of the death of Burma Star veteran Jack Holloway saw Jack's Sponsored Walk enthusiastically supported by walkers and generous sponsors.
The route was again chosen by John Rosser, who initiated the walk with Jack 15 years ago as a fundraising event for The Royal British Legion.
It started and finished at The Noah's Ark Inn in Lurgashall, where walkers ended their day with a delicious lunch.
John provided beautiful views of Sussex and as before, Quentin Gilpin provided first aid cover, with Les Hellier looking after safety.
Ian McNeil, who took over as local Poppy Appeal organiser from Mark Tarver this year, said: "Jack's Walk continues to remind us all of the importance of the Royal British Legion in helping service men and women.
"Having previously lived in River, I recall vividly how moved we used to be by Jack's reading out of the long list of names of those who had died in the great wars at the Remembrance Day Service in Tillington Church.
"The centenary of the First World War next year will bring home to us just how much we owe to Jack and others and why we must carry on the walk."
