Changes in policies for returning old vehicles would drive automobile market up in 2014, according to Yangon market sources.

Myawady, the army-run newspaper, reported that the changes in the policies could reduce the prices of car ownership slips, the permit to buy new cars.

The Road Transport Directorate has limited to accept cars by models, a shift from 2013 policies which accept the old cars according to the license plate orders.

A permit is worth around 9 million Kyats in 2013 and is expected to go down to 0.5-1 million Kyats in 2014, according to a market source.

"The slip sale would slip. It will remain lively, even more," Win Aung Thu, an automobile agent, said.
The government accepted the return of old model cars as from 2011 January, reducing the car prices in the market dramatically.

In 2014, there will be more automobiles on the roads, according to the market experts, as the prices are about to slip even more dramatically.

The government made more than 95 million USD revenue from the automobile permits in last eight months 2013, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
