Myanmar will upgrade its engineering education with the support of the Japanese government in five-year long-term scheme, according to Eleven Media Group report.
The long-term engineering education scheme came to life in the previous December, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology which oversees a number of technological universities around the country.
Six departments from the Yangon and Mandalay Technological Universities will work in cooperation with seven universities of Japan.
"We are upgrading our teaching techniques with the cooperation between seven Japanese universities and six department of ours with the support of Japanese government," according to an unnamed official of the ministry.
Myanmar technological university departments included in the scheme are Civil Engineering Department, Electrical Power Department, Electronics Department, IT Department and Mechatronics Department.
More than 100 Japanese professors will visit the universities and give lectures and supervise researches under the scheme.
Yangon Technological University and Tokyo University are jointly conducting researches on traffic jams in Yangon and inundation in the city in rainy seasons.
