On 16 Jan. 2014, Chinese Ambassador Yang Houlan met with U Tin Aye, Chairman of Union Election Committee, exchanging ideas on the recent development of Myanmar's opening-up and reform, the Sino-Myanmar relationship and the prospect of the 2015 general election of Myanmar.
Yang said, the Chinese side always respects the choices and decisions made by the Myanmar people in terms of political system and development path which are consistent with their national circumstances. As friendly neighbors, we bear strong confidence that no matter what changes Myanmar will have in the future, the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between China and Myanmar will continue to move forward.
Tin Aye said, he has visited China several times and deeply understood the importance of maintaining bilateral friendship. He agreed that the transition of Myanmar will not change the general situation and developing trend of the bilateral relationship.
